ABOUT US

humble desires

It all started in a living room filled with students eager to improve their community.

The beginning

In 2014, a female high school student had a desire to do more for her community, so she reached out to communities all around her and searched for other students with the same desire.

The result?

A living room filled with students and parents with a desire to help improve their community. Those students and parents in that living room came to be known as the founders, and the entire group of students and parents came to be known as PLAY Foundation, which represented their goal: Promoting Leadership in Aspiring Youth (PLAY).

Where we are today

.Just four years later, PLAY Foundation has become an official 501(c)(3) non profit organization and expanded to hundreds of members and parents, with a dozen active sub groups working hard to improve their community on a daily basis. PLAY Foundation is based in the Tri-Valley but serves a wide range of communities throughout the Bay Area. Whether it's assisting others who need help, or passing down knowledge to our younger generations, PLAY Foundation is there to meet the needs of the local community.

Goals

Our goals for all members of the organization include:

  • To provide assistance in the endeavor to master public speaking
  • To encourage the formation of individual opinion of contemporary social, economic, and environmental issues, without a bias towards either side of the political spectrum.
  • To teach the value of community and demonstrate various ways in which students can better the diverse communities they are a part of
  • To offer them opportunities to take a leadership role and augment their understanding about the necessary qualities of a leader
  • To encourage involvement in institutions through internships and volunteer work
